So many symptoms!
PMS symptoms, peri menopausal symptoms, menopause symptoms!
Some symptoms that you might be experiencing are brain fog, stomach cramps, heavy bleeding, nausea, extreme fatigue, hot flushes, insomnia, forgetfulness, emotional imbalances, mood swings, negative thinking and temporary depression, the list goes on and on too many to mention.......
When we start to go into peri menopause my understanding is that pms symptoms can deteriorate as hormones become even more unbalanced and are much more likely to fluctuate. This started for me just after I turned 40 but I also had a lot of stress in my life as well so this impacted me too. I am almost 47 now.
Brain fog is one of the symptoms of pms, and peri menopause. There is a link between oestrogen and progesterone and a women’s ability to think - using the cognitive thinking brain.
Stress also has a massive part to play here as well because as we get more tense (premenstrual) we are much more likely to get stressed and go into fight flight freeze which also affects our thinking brain 🧠 and can make us think illogically or do things out of character, which is why things like meditation, yoga and exercise are so crucial to our overall wellbeing.
The key is to balance our hormones as much as possible, - ha easier said than done!
I am trying to reduce any inflammation by reducing carbs and doing intermittent fasting which is also a great way of reducing fluctuation in hormones, and regulating blood sugar levels.
So basic lifestyle changes ie drinking lots of water, getting enough sleep, diet, exercise are all major contributing factors not just for the menopause but for our general sense of wellbeing and happiness.
Omega 3 high strength oils can help the function of the brain and help to rebalance omega 3 and 6 as there is way too much omega 6 in our western diet.
HTP5 which you can take on it’s own or in St. John’s wort works in the brain and central nervous system by increasing the production of the chemical and feel good hormone serotonin.
It’s a minefield for sure, everyone is different and different things will work for different people, it’s very much a case of trial and error.
I am also currently giving the lady care magnet a go! I feel a bit weird wondering around with a magnet stuck to my underwear but hey if it works who am
I to argue? I’ll let you know how I get on🙏
The other thing is there has been much research and evidence showing that reducing carb intake or going on a keto style diet and increasing protein intake may also be beneficial.
I’m trying that along with the intermittent fasting at the moment so I’ll also keep you posted and let you know how I get on 🙄😁
