My practice & experience
I have had many roles in my working life all working with the general public. I am inspired by peoples behaviours, drivers and I love to inspire others to acheive what they are capable of and to belive in themselves. I love to see the results that others want for themselves.
After having my children I wanted to re-train and follow a new path, one that was mine and utilised my innate and learned skills. I wanted to do something that had the right meaning for me and give me another purpose.
I have always been interested in alternative health and began my journey when I trained as a fitness instructor in 2001. Intuitively, alternative health was the natural path for me to take and I started with aromatherapy. My love of learning grew from there and year on year I continue to grow and develop my skills. I have to date qualified and practiced in over 30 modalities covering physical therapy, beauty therapy and spiritual and emotional growth and development.
I felt there was something missing and realised that I needed to share my skills and knowledge with others and began teaching Health and Wellbeing workshops in 2011. I then qualified as a teacher and trainer in 2014.
As part of my constant and never ending improvement I am always trying new things and know how scary it can be to leap into the unknown. I know how difficult life can get and for me it is about trial and error. I also know that if I want to reach my goal I must never give up, I either try again and if it doesn't work I move onto the next thing. Doing something is better than doing nothing. I still get scared and have fears.
This attitude, a passion for growth, learning, and people naturally led me towards coaching. I qualified as a coach and am part of the MOE training team for the MOE Coaching Foundation in London and regularly take part in facilitating these courses, growing new coaches and entrapenuers which is hugly rewarding and exciting.
Throughout my life I have expereienced highs, lows, and all the in between moments. Coaching & Therapies have helped me to process my feelings and make sense of what is going on in my internal and external worlds and enabled me to get through barriers and continue towards fullfilling my own potential. It has also given me an acute understanding of myself, other people, families, relationships, friendships, core values, beliefs, causes of stress & anxiety, the effects of trauma on the body (mind-body connection) and the drive to achieve something more, to fulfill potential, and what holds us back.
My approach is holistic in style, looking at factors such as free will, authenticity, creativity, identity, responsibility, boundaries and human potential. Intuitively Person Centered, I naturally and warmly focus on what you bring and the ways in which you perceive yourself consciously, unconsciously and intuitively.
Coaching is support, guidance, help, encouragement and it is solution focused. It happens in a safe, non-judgemental environment where together, in a strong safe theraputic relationship, we explore your thoughts, feelings, ideas, dreams and goals, if you are willing find a new self awareness which is the catalyst to change , growth & achievement.
I integrate my approach with other theories and draw upon my experience as a holistic therapist, teacher & mentor using simple questioning, listening, reframing techniques, visualisation techniques and practical solutions - one step at a time. We look at your best self and your anti-self (the traits about yourself you arn't so keen on) and all of your other personality traits. Mindfullness and other relaxation techniques may also used if required and can also be included in self care.
I use the GROW method of coaching as a starting point and I am passionate about the eight dimensions of wellness with which I can help you to find balance in all areas of your life. The eight dimensions of wellness is the full integration of states of physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. This model includes social, emotional, spiritual, environmental, occupational, intellectual and physical wellness. Each of these eight dimensions act and interact in a way that contributes to our own quality of life. Ultimately, I work with you to establish an approach that you feel works for you.
In our first session we look at all areas of your life and focus on the areas you would like to improve. We can then create clear goals and you can begin your exciting new journey. contact me
I have worked providing emotional support for my many clients over the last 10 years as well as working with them to establish wellbeing in their lives. I have also worked alongside my students for the last 5 years supporting, mentoring and positively encouriging them to acheive their goals.
I am also involved with 1 other local charity, working with vunerable 16-25 year olds who need extra support during difficult times in their life, this is with a local charity called Young Devon.
I have experience working with children and adults on the autistic spectrum and who have aspergers syndrome, including all related issues. I have family members with ASC and Aspergers so I am fully aware of the difficulties this can cause and the communication issues which can arise and be difficult to negotiate a path through.
In these cases we focus very much on you finding your identity, self care, communication stratigies and all other positive solutions. In many cases simple and effective action is key and this can mean putting in place some simple things you can do for yourself and looking at different ways of raising awareness and improving communication.
Coaching helps you to step back, see the big picture, grow and develop your own skills, coaching helps you to better understand your issues, become more aware of your perceptions, beliefs, habits, attitudes, behaviors, competencies, values and your identity. You can expect me to ;
Pull information from you using good questioning strategies in a safe & supportive way
Listen to your story without engaging in the details with you
Provide a compassionate, listening, judgment-free attitude and presence
Ask your permission to provide feedback, not advice
Ask you to confirm if what you said is accurately understood
Always ask you what you want, how you feel about your decisions and ask you to confirm you are making your decisions for yourself and not for someone else
Be gently challenging
I have experience & knowledge in the following areas;
'What you think you become. What you feel you attract. What you imagine you create.' (Buddha)
